Join us for an evening open studios session at SET Lewisham Retail Park\, one of our earliest project spaces and studio sites in London. \n\n\n\nCome down after work\, have a wander through the studios and meet the artists working across the building. To make the evening even more special\, the project space will host a group exhibition curated by and featuring eight studio members from our sister space over on Lewisham High Street.  \n\n\n\nWe’ll have free drinks flowing\, plus top-tier Indian cuisine on site from South London plant-based legends\, En Root. Whether you’re a neighbour\, an art lover\, a SET regular or just curious to see what goes on behind the doors\, everyone’s welcome. \n\n\n\nFree drinks served all evening! \n\n\n\nGetting here\n\n\n\n\nLocation: Find us at Unit 1 inside Lewisham Retail Park (right next to the big Matalan on Loampit Vale).\n\n\n\nTransport: 5 minutes’ walk from Lewisham Station (National Rail & DLR). DESCRIPTION:Dates: 18 September – 4 OctoberPublic opening event: 17 September\, 6-9pm Gallery hours: Thursday – Saturday\, 1-6pmAdmission: FreeSET 91 presents Junk Mail Cheerleader\, the third exhibition of its second six-month curated programme. Curated by artists Ismay Bright and Peter Eason Daniels\, the show brings together new works across their respective practices of mosaic and film photography. \n\n\n\nAbout the exhibition\n\n\n\nThis exhibition is anchored in the process of collecting and preserving found text through their respective mediums of mosaic and film photography. Equally interested in examining the impact of materiality and context\, the two artists present works that isolate phrases from their original surroundings to offer up new readings. \n\n\n\nBright presents a series of figurative mosaic facades that explore the limits of the written word and trace how our relationship with text shifts as it passes from one context to another. \n\n\n\nEason Daniels’ work is concerned with collection and permanence. Using cameras as tools to document\, suspend and repeat\, he presents a series of darkroom prints made from fragments of text sliced from years of collected negatives. These fragments are digested and pieced together in the darkroom\, forming phrases such as “Only love walks”. \n\n\n\nLearn more\n\n\n\nAbout SET 91\n\n\n\nSET 91 is SET’s first in-house curated contemporary arts gallery\, located in Old Street.
