DESCRIPTION:One rehearsal. One performance. One night. \n\n\n\nFlash Folk Choir is a pop-up singing collective for all voices. It’s not a formal choir\, you don’t need to read music\, there are zero auditions or solos\, and you don’t singing experience. The concept is simple: get familiar with 5 songs in advance\, meet up for a one-hour run-through\, and perform them together that same evening on the main stage. \n\n\n\nAs part of our Pride Edition Community Day & Market\, this Queering the Tradition special revisits old songs of land\, labour\, love\, and resistance from the British Isles and beyond\, celebrating queer stories\, queer voices\, and radical reworkings of folk heritage. \n\n\n\nWhether you’re a folk lover\, a folk sceptic\, a shower singer\, or just looking to do something different on a Sunday afternoon\, you are welcome here. \n\n\n\nHow it works\n\n\n\nBefore the night: Listen to the songs and get familiar with the lyrics in advance. We won’t have time to teach them from scratch—only to polish them together! Expect a mix of indoor and outdoor stalls filled with handmade goods\, vintage treasures\, ceramics\, prints\, zines\, bakes\, collectables and more.  \n\n\n\nOur café and bar will be serving all day\, so grab a drink and support local makers!Please note: SET is a registered arts charity. Every penny spent at the bar goes directly toward our projects and the work we do for our community. Following a successful residency by Oisín Roberts and his community library\, the space now hosts a year-long project with the Green Lions Community Archive. We invite you to join us on Thursday 30 July to celebrate the official opening of their new home. \n\n\n\nThe Green Lions Community Archive is a space dedicated to preserving the history and cultural production of grassroots organising and social movements. With a focus on decolonial climate justice and solidarity\, within and beyond London\, the collection aims to represent East and South East Asian (ESEA) communities\, their diasporic homelands\, and allied groups fighting against imperialism and climate colonialism. \n\n\n\nThis launch event is a open invitation to explore this new physical space as well as the connections between climate justice\, decolonisation\, racial justice and anti-militarism. Bringing together new or unseen works and performances by H M Baker\, José García Oliva\, Luke Gould\, Markéta Slaná\, Maya King-Dabbs\, Samra Mayanja\, and Tawfik Naas\, the show probes the holding company as a fundamentally intangible corporate structure. \n\n\n\nAbout the exhibition\n\n\n\nHolding Company is a group exhibition spanning object-based and event-based practices. Beginning from the place of neoliberal financial capitalism\, the exhibition considers the affordances of ‘passive’ or ‘umbrella’ legal entities in the arts. While holding companies—corporate structures set up purely to hold assets and shield liability rather than produce goods—are everywhere in the contemporary art world\, this show looks to the structure itself as a productive conceptual anchor. \n\n\n\nEmbracing rather than resisting the cultural rise of ‘corpcore’\, the exhibition approaches this specific form of company on its own terms. Led by leading gardening expert and renowned seedsman\, Paolo Arrigo\, the 45-minute talk takes the audience “around Italy in 20 vegetables\,” focusing on local\, ethical\, and endangered heirloom varieties celebrated for their exceptional provenance and forgotten flavours. \n\n\n\nAlongside this regional journey\, Paolo will share practical advice on exactly what to sow right now to secure a successful autumn and winter harvest. The session concludes with a Q&A. \n\n\n\nPaolo is a nine-time Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) medal winner\, the Slow Food (UK) ‘Person of the Year 2019′\, and the founder of Seeds of Italy. His company imports Franchi Seeds\, the oldest family-run seed brand on the planet. DESCRIPTION:Where do our most difficult emotions go? \n\n\n\nAngry Letters to God is a therapeutic writing workshop where attendees are encouraged to express their “ugliest” feelings in their rawest form. \n\n\n\nThe session was conceived of as a direct antidote to the current climate of repression\, confinement\, and powerlessness we experience in society today. Running an independent\, DIY space in London right now is incredibly tough and requires a lot of careful planning. As a non-profit charity\, we operate on a lean\, community-focused model where every penny we make goes directly back into our art and community programme and keeping our doors open. This model is very effective at keeping our space accessible\, but it relies on a steady cycle of trade from our bar\, café\, memberships\, and bookings to stay sustainable. \n\n\n\nBeing forced to close unexpectedly for six weeks during our recent lease transition hit us hard. Our core operation costs didn’t pause while our doors were shut\, and missing a month and a half of trading interrupted the steady financial cycle that keeps our operations stable. \n\n\n\nWe’re launching this fundraiser as a proactive step to bridge that gap\, recover our financial footing\, and ensure we can continue to support our community to the fullest. \n\n\n\nDonate\n\n\n\nOur £23\,000 goal\n\n\n\nTo recover from our recent closure and ensure our community impact continues\, we’re pushing forward with a £23\,000 community fundraising campaign. This goal has been calculated to cover the core overheads and utility costs we accrued while our doors were shut. By clearing these outstanding costs now\, we ensure that our future revenue can go exactly where it matters: back into our arts programming and community initiatives\, returning us to the stable footing required to sustain our mission. \n\n\n\nWithout reaching this goal\, our recovery will be much slower\, and we may be forced to operate at a more limited capacity. This could mean reduced opening hours\, a scaled-back arts programme\, and fewer subsidised community sessions. By hitting our target together\, we avoid those compromises entirely and can focus on growing our support for local artists and community groups.  \n\n\n\nTo be absolutely clear: This campaign is a proactive step to ensure our continued operation and stability. We are not facing any immediate closure threats; rather\, we’re acting now to secure the resources needed to keep our space and programming thriving for our community. \n\n\n\nEvery single penny raised through this campaign goes directly into strengthening the foundation and stability of our Peckham venue\, allowing us to continue to maintain and evolve our programme\, while ensuring the communities who need us can rely on us to be around for years to come. If you want to play\, just put your name in the hat for a random 30-minute slot. There is no fixed setlist and no pressure to perform. Using the net as a compositional structure that forms both the skeleton and exoskeleton of the works on display\, A Great Big Net considers the precise moment when the freedom of the grid hardens into a trap. \n\n\n\nContributing artists\n\n\n\nMassimo Franco\nMassimo Franco currently lives and works in London. Recently he’s made a return to printmaking\, specifically a return to the book format. Notably this work displays an interest in part to purely abstract imagery. Massimo completed his training painting at Glasgow School of Art\, drawing at Royal Drawing School and printmaking at Camberwell College of Art. \n\n\n\n\nNed Elliot\nNed Elliott is an artist from London. His subject is nature\, and his focus moves from the small to the cosmic. His gaze is drawn to those things which are simultaneously frail and beautiful; a moth\, a feather\, a flower. He depicts how different elements of existence\, sentient\, insentient\, intersect and coexist in the world\, creating pictures which grow out of the confusing and elusive beauty of life. \n\n\n\nInstagram: @ned_elli0tt \n\n\n\n\nDaisy Nutting\nDaisy Nutting is an artist exploring memory\, storytelling and perceptions of ownership. Documenting moments of balance and imbalance within nature\, Daisy’s etchings\, drawings and paintings are made from a desire to connect with her surroundings and an attempt to take ownership of land that is not hers\, suggesting that the memory of a place is a kind of possession to rival capitalist notions of accumulation and proprietorship. \n\n\n\nInstagram: @daisynutting \n\n\n\n\nAgnes Treherne\nAgnes Treherne lives and works in East Sussex. Rejecting polished interfaces and digital convenience\, the participating artists embrace hands-on experimentation\, chance encounters\, and material limitations as creative drivers. \n\n\n\nSurfaces vibrate\, circuits respond to natural phenomena\, and kinetic gestures become instruments. Here\, sound and visuals are treated as something discovered—unearthed through play\, trial\, and close observation. Together\, the works propose alternative ways of making\, listening\, and visualising\, where ingenuity replaces excess\, and the familiar is reimagined as strange\, expressive\, and alive.  \n\n\n\nConceived as a shared space for connection\, creative crossover\, and peer learning\, the exhibition functions alongside a public programme of collaborative workshops\, live performances\, and ongoing invitations for visitors to interact and play. \n\n\n\nPublic programme and events\n\n\n\nDIY instrument and sound making workshop\n\n\n\nSaturday 20 June\, 2-6pm \n\n\n\nJoin artists from the 嘢嘢YardYard collective to experiment with sounds and making. He performs and composes under the moniker Haddow\, improvising with handmade instruments and found sounds\, and shares these methods via the ‘Unprecious Instrument’ workshops. He also co-runs live sound art event SAOM\, produces monthly radio broadcasts for arts journal FIELDNOTES\, and works as an illustrator and designer for various music related projects. \n\n\n\nInstagram: @robshuttz / @haddowsound \n\n\n\n\nDavid Sappa\nDavid Sappa works across sound sculpture\, improvisation and field recording.
