SUMMARY:Rule of Thumb - SET Lewisham Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Rule of Thumb investigates the systems of discipline and authority that shape the human body. Bringing together four artists working across painting\, sculpture\, and installation\, the exhibition examines how power is naturalised through physical presence. \n\n\n\nPresented at SET Lewisham as part of the Associate Members Programme\, the exhibition is co-curated by the participating artists. \n\n\n\nAbout the exhibition\n\n\n\nThe exhibition takes its title from the idiom “rule of thumb”\, a phrase denoting approximate measurement famously\, if controversially\, linked to a legal loophole for domestic violence. Rule of Thumb uses this etymology as a point of departure to explore how power is mapped onto the body within both domestic and institutional spheres. \n\n\n\nThroughout the space\, symbols of power are rendered as bodily objects: bodybuilders flex alongside legal iconography and heraldry; armour-like structures offer a tense balance of protection and restraint; and garments hang like evidence\, relics or unresolved testimonies. \n\n\n\nBy deconstructing these forms\, Rule of Thumb draws attention to the hidden codes of conduct that dictate movement and behaviour. The works invite us to consider how the body carries the weight of these systems\, and how the traces of authority remain visible even in the aftermath of an event. \n\n\n\nEvent details\n\n\n\nPublic opening event: Friday 15 May\, 6-9pmWeekend opening hours: Saturday 16 & Sunday 17 May\, 12-5pmWeekday viewings: Thursday 14\, Friday 15\, and Monday 18 May (By appointment only)Appointments: To book a weekday viewing\, please contact phoebe.ea.randall@gmail.comLocation: SET Lewisham\, Unit 1\, Lewisham Retail Park\, SE13 7RZAdmission: Free \n\n\n\nContributing artists\n\n\n\nEmilia Auersperg\nEmilia Auersperg works with readymade fragments gathered through chance encounters in urban environments. Her work explores objecthood as a way of thinking through consumer culture\, bodily discipline\, and the shifting boundaries between human and nonhuman agency. Through processes of deconstruction andassemblage\, discarded objects are transformed from passive commodities into charged sites\, exposing social\, symbolic\, and political afterlives embedded within material culture. \n\n\n\nInstagram: @emiliaauersperg \n\n\n\n\nJiyoung Pyo\nInformed by collective memory\, personal experience\, and found imagery\, Jiyoung Pyo’s practice engages with cultural forms\, power dynamics\, and moral ambiguity through an expanded multimedia approach centred around painting. Her work explores psychological states and the ways individual experience intersects with broader social and historical narratives. At its core\, the practice investigates vulnerability and power\, the seen and unseen\, and the unstable boundaries between them\, creating layered and emotionally charged spaces where viewers may feel exposed and implicated. \n\n\n\n\nPhoebe Randall\nPhoebe Randall translates photographs of performance and human spectacle into oil paintings on canvas. Recent works examine demonstrations of masculinity\, heroism and violence staged under the guise of sportsmanship. Working selectively from her source material\, she remains only partially faithful to the original image. In doing so\, she unsettles the choreography of conflict and the performative mechanics of violence embedded in Western painting traditions. She is particularly interested in the theatrics of rivalry\, from arena sports to the social ‘arenas’ where our identity and power relations are at stake. \n\n\n\nInstagram: @phoebe.randall \n\n\n\n\nFlorence Sweeney\nFlorence Sweeney is a London-based artist whose practice spans sculpture\, photography\, moving image and textiles. Her work interrogates the intersection of personal history and societal injustices surrounding the representation of women\, delving into themes of memory\, loss\, and familial injury while searching for meaning within the complexities of contemporary life. \n\n\n\nInstagram: @florencesweeney \n\n\n\n\nAbout SET’s Associate Members Programme\n\n\n\nThis exhibition is presented as part of SET’s Associate Members Programme\, which offers artists studio space alongside access to project spaces and opportunities to independently curate exhibitions\, workshops\, and events. \n\n\n\nThe programme supports a wide range of practices\, from performance and installation to music\, sound\, print\, and textiles\, and is designed to provide space\, visibility\, and development opportunities for early-career and underrepresented artists working in London.Poster design: Phoebe Randall

SUMMARY:No You’re Not\, Yes I Am: A Portrait of Autistic Women - SET Lewisham Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:No You’re Not\, Yes I Am is a photography project by documentary photographer Rosie Barnes.Developed over six years between 2018 and 2024\, the exhibition brings together portraits and extended interviews from women across diverse communities\, many of whom describe themselves as ‘high-masking’ autistic women who were diagnosed later in life. \n\n\n\nEach portrait is shown alongside the participant’s own words\, reflecting on diagnosis\, identity and everyday life. Their stories reflect the long path many women take before receiving a diagnosis\, and the ways autistic women and girls can often be misunderstood or overlooked. \n\n\n\nTogether\, the works offer insight into the inequalities\, misunderstandings and barriers they face\, while calling for greater understanding of neurodiversity. \n\n\n\nAlongside the exhibition\, a panel discussion on Thursday 26 March will bring together contributors and specialists to explore the themes raised by the project and discuss how society can better support autistic women and girls. \n\n\n\nResidents\, families and community groups are invited to visit the exhibition and engage with the stories on display. \n\n\n\n\nExhibition details\n\n\n\n\nPublic opening event: Monday 23 March\, 6-8pmExhibition run dates: Open daily between 24-28 March\, 2-6pmPanel discussion: Thursday 26 March\, 6-8pmLocation: Unit 1\, Lewisham Retail Park\, Lewisham\, London\, SE13 7RZAdmission: Free; no booking required for exhibition. If you’d like to attend the panel discussion\, please RSVP at outreach.admin@drumbeat.lewisham.sch.ukAccessibility visits can be arranged through Drumbeat Outreach:S.Gannon@drumbeat.lewisham.sch.uk \n\n\n\nAbout the artist\n\n\n\nRosie Barnes is a fine art documentary photographer whose work explores the human condition\, neurodiversity and our relationship with the non-human world. \n\n\n\nOver a thirty-year career she has developed long-form photographic projects that challenge assumptions\, expand public understanding and give visibility to overlooked subjects. Her work has appeared in The Guardian Weekend\, the Financial Times and projects with the Wellcome Collection. \n\n\n\nShe is widely recognised for her work exploring autism. Her book Understanding Stanley was widely reviewed and exhibited across Europe\, while the portrait series No You’re Not\, Yes I Am was funded by the Wellcome Collection\, with two portraits selected for the Taylor Wessing National Portrait Prize. \n\n\n\nBarnes lives in London and her practice is informed by her own experience of neurodivergence. \n\n\n\nPartners and support\n\n\n\nThe exhibition is presented with support from Drumbeat Outreach and marks the beginning of Autism Awareness Month in Lewisham. \n\n\n\nIt is supported by Lewisham Council Public Health as part of the Lewisham All Age Autism Strategy\, and contributes to the Partnership for Inclusion of Neurodiversity in Schools (PINS) programme.

Courtesy of the artist.Images: Leprous\, Ben Raz (2025)\, oil on canvas\, 100 x 150cm. Part of the ‘Spores’ exhibition. Courtesy of the artist.\n\n\n\nSpores brings together a body of work exploring natural processes\, cycles\, and the shifting dynamics of meaning\, function\, and language. Across a series of landscape paintings\, nature emerges not as a passive backdrop but as an active\, adaptive presence. Paths\, clearings\, and subtle traces of occupation appear throughout\, yet growth\, erosion\, and seasonal rhythms continuously reshape what remains. These landscapes become sites of quiet tension\, where imposed order and organic change intersect\, dissolve\, and transform over time. \n\n\n\nAt the centre of the exhibition stands a raised root cellar structure\, functioning as both artefact and monument. Traditionally designed to preserve food under controlled subterranean conditions\, the structure is removed from its original context\, repositioned within the gallery\, and wrapped in archived exhibition texts. \n\n\n\nBuilt using only a single cross-sectional diagram as reference\, the cellar is deliberately misinterpreted\, exposing an interior logic intended to explain function while remaining unusable in practice. Nearby\, lanterns removed from their holders and rendered redundant by the gallery’s light operate as imperfect repetitions of a familiar form\, suggesting an absent action. The work foregrounds systems of preservation—temporal\, architectural\, and cultural—and the instability that arises when these systems are displaced from their intended purpose. \n\n\n\nTogether\, the works reflect on transience\, obsolescence\, and endurance. In Spores\, nature preserves itself through decay and renewal\, revealing transformation through instability. Figures in many of the landscapes are partially absorbed by darkness\, while the lanterns lie abandoned\, their utility uncertain. Through these shifts between visibility and concealment\, function and failure\, the exhibition highlights the gradual erosion of authority in both structures and ideas. \n\n\n\nExhibition details\n\n\n\nDates: 11-28 FebruaryOpening: 11 February\, 6-9pmLocation: Unit 1\, Lewisham Retail Park\, Loampit Vale\, London SE13 7RZAdmission: Free \n\n\n\nThe exhibition will be viewable by appointment only except for the opening. \n\n\n\nContact:benraz95@gmail.comtarzankingofthejungle123@gmail.com \n\n\n\nContributing artists\n\n\n\nTarzan Kingofthejungle\nWebsite: tarzankingofthejungle.comInstagram: @tarzan_kingofthejungle \n\n\n\nBased in London\, Tarzan Kingofthejungle (b. 1998) works works across film\, sculpture\, performance\, and writing. His practice involves constructing scenes from borrowed elements—props\, lines\, symbols\, or characters—isolated and stripped of their original contexts\, such as a discarded lantern\, a lens flare\, or a soundtrack. Through dismantling\, manipulating\, and rearranging these fragments\, he explores how meaning shifts and emerges through narrative potential and residue. \n\n\n\nRecent exhibitions include Metropolis (curated by Jacob Sirkin)\, Greatorex St\, London; Alpine XP\, Plicnik Space Initiative; Reset Atelier\, Brussels; Planned Obsolescence\, Seager Gallery\, London; Log 2: NovoStruct Hard Hat Area\, Plicnik Space Initiative; Half Truths (curated by Vanessa Murrell)\, London; OTO (Lux Moving Image\, RCA)\, Fold\, London. \n\n\n\n\nBen Raz\nWebsite: www.benraz.orgInstagram: @benr.az \n\n\n\nBen Raz (b. 1995) lives and works in London. He graduated from the Slade School of Art in 2021. Raz’s paintings synthesise varied interests\, experiences\, observations\, and imaginings\, engaging themes of desire\, the clandestine\, the sublime\, and modern decadence. These ideas are reinforced through the coalescence of disparate images and information. \n\n\n\nMany of the paintings are characterised by ambiguity and a lack of clarity; Raz is interested in how an image can simultaneously reveal and withhold meaning. \n\n\n\nRecent exhibitions include presentations at Bolding Gallery\, Pusher Gallery\, Xxijra Hii\, and Hew Hood Gallery. \n\n\n\n\nAbout SET’s Associate Members Programme\n\n\n\nThis exhibition is presented as part of SET’s Associate Members Programme\, which offers artists studio space alongside access to project spaces and opportunities to independently curate exhibitions\, workshops\, and events. \n\n\n\nThe programme supports a wide range of practices\, from performance and installation to music\, sound\, print\, and textiles\, and is designed to provide space\, visibility\, and development opportunities for early-career and underrepresented artists working in London.

SUMMARY:A Coral Reef - Exhibition at SET Lewisham
DESCRIPTION:SET is delighted to present A Coral Reef\, a new exhibition\, opening at SET Lewisham on 4 December\, 6-9pm.Bringing together new drawings\, paintings\, and sculptural works by artists and SET Associate Members Aidan Quinn and Hallam Wood\, the exhibition explores fragility\, connection\, and the unstable systems that bind living things together.Quinn (@maggot.kingdom) makes drawings and sculptures that reflect on the strangeness of living in a collapsing\, disorienting world. His works begin with fragments—archival images\, scraps of text\, or simple patterns—which are redrawn\, layered\, and tiled until their origins blur and new connections emerge. \n\n\n\nWood (@hallamtwood) works between painting\, drawing\, and occasional sculpture\, guided by the belief that all matter is connected. From this open-ended premise\, he aims to realign the pedestrian elements of life. His recent paintings use looping lines to form links between objects and organisms. \n\n\n\nExhibition details\n\n\n\nPrivate view: Thursday 4 December\, 6–9pmExhibition dates: 5-7 December\, 12–5pmAdditional viewings: 8-19 DecemberVenue: SET Lewisham\, Lewisham Retail Park\, SE13 7RZAdmission: Free entry\, by appointment

SUMMARY:The Upper Matrix of Human Error - Exhibition at SET Lewisham
DESCRIPTION:The Upper Matrix of Human Error opens at SET Lewisham on 13 November\, 6-9pm. \n\n\n\nBringing together new works by Associate Members\, Peter McNelis and Charlie Fogg\, the exhibition explores communication\, paranoia\, and power within the structures that shape digital and social life. \n\n\n\nFogg’s films dissect the mechanics of speech and narrative in digital spaces\, manipulating both filmic and verbal language to expose how meaning slips even as it’s being constructed. His fragmented scripts and narrators—whether real or artificial—highlight the instability of communication\, particularly when filtered through systems designed to distort and replicate. \n\n\n\nMcNelis’ film\, drawing\, textual\, and sculptural works are structured around performances of legal and social contracts\, and the fictions that underpin them. \n\n\n\nTogether\, their works critique the technologies and networks of power that govern contemporary visual culture. Rather than dismissing those caught within conspiratorial or paranoid thinking\, they explore how such ideologies emerge from systems of alienation and control. \n\n\n\nParanoia becomes a defining condition of both production and spectatorship\, and yet\, within the texts and images they sample\, the artists uncover traces of humanity; in the awkward politeness of British speech\, the familiar banality of work and consumption\, and in moments of humour. \n\n\n\nExhibition details\n\n\n\nPrivate view: 13 November\, 6–9pmExhibition dates: 13-25 NovemberTimes: Wednesday-Friday\, 4.30–8pm; Saturday-Sunday\, 12-6pmLocation: SET Lewisham\, Unit 1\, Lewisham Retail Park\, Loampit Vale\, London SE13 7RZTickets: Free entry. No need for appointments. \n\n\n\nThis exhibition is realised with support from the Exhibitions Hub\, Department of Art\, Goldsmiths College. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArtists Peter McNelis @l15.pmcne Peter McNelis (b. Newcastle Upon Tyne\, 2000) makes work concerned with internal structures of ideology and nationhood\, and the naive actors who perform and make them external. He received a BA in Fine Art and History of Art from Goldsmiths in 2023.Charlie Fogg @charlienewfbfogg Charlie Fogg (b. Newcastle Upon Tyne\, 2000) works primarily with digital moving- image. His works interrogate narrative forms\, exploring themes of the post-internet condition and its effect on everyday life. SUMMARY:Altogether Without - Group Exhibition at SET Lewisham
DESCRIPTION:Altogether Without opens at SET Lewisham on 16 October 6-9pm. \n\n\n\nBringing together photographic works\, projected video and light installations in a darkened space\, Altogether Without stages an encounter with the (in)discernable gap between the still and the moving image. Through a play between darkness and light\, the show seeks to shift and trouble perceptions of duration and the ephemeral. \n\n\n\nExhibition details\n\n\n\nPrivate view: 16 October 6-9pmPublic exhibition dates: 16 October – 8 NovemberTimes: Friday 3-7pm\, Saturday and Sunday 12-6pmLocation: SET Lewisham\, Unit 1\, Lewisham Retail Park\, Loampit Vale\, London SE13 7RZTickets: Free entry. The programme is centred on the work of filmmaker Tomonari Nishikawa\, who passed away in April of this year\, celebrating his playful experiments with 16mm film. \n\n\n\nThe screening includes Nishikawa’s Tokyo Ebisu/Shibuya duology\, featuring in-camera visual effects capturing Tokyo’s busiest metro line\, alongside Sound of a Million Insects\, Light of a Thousand Stars\, in which Nishikawa buried a 100ft roll of Tungsten film beneath fallen leaves near the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant from sunset until sunrise. Through this methodical approach\, chance emerges within his structured cityscapes as traces of light\, commuters\, and cars appear as unexpected surprises. \n\n\n\nAlso included is Vincent Grenier’s Time’s Wake (Once Removed). Grenier\, a colleague of Nishikawa at Binghamton University\, describes his film as “a strange contradiction between liveliness and frozenness.” Using home movie footage and an earlier\, unseen version of his film\, Grenier constructs an “endearing but removed artefact” of personal memory\, highlighting the nature of the image as “altogether outside\, without intimacy\, and yet more accessible and mysterious than the thought of the innermost being” (Maurice Blanchot). \n\n\n\nA surprise film will also be announced before the screening begins. \n\n\n\nEntry: £5 / Free drinks provided / Contactless or cash payment on the door. \n\n\n\nScreening Programme \n\n\n\n\nSound of a Million Insects\, Light of a Thousand Stars | 2014 | 2 min | Tomonari Nishikawa\n\n\n\nTokyo – Ebisu | 2010 | 5 min | Tomonari Nishikawa\n\n\n\nShibuya – Tokyo | 2010 | 10 min | Tomonari Nishikawa\n\n\n\nTime’s Wake (Once Removed) | 1987 | 12 min | Vincent Grenier\n\n\n\nSurprise film | TBC

DESCRIPTION:As part of the Look at This If You Love Me exhibition at SET Lewisham\, join artists Fidelia Schlegl and Elisa Terranera for a collaborative workshop exploring narrative and experimental drawing and painting on cardboard boxes. \n\n\n\nThe session begins with a playful writing game to generate absurd and funny short stories. Participants then translate these tales into visual narratives on primed cardboard boxes\, considering the boxes as 3D comic panels or modular story elements. Together\, the group will experiment with stacking\, rearranging\, and connecting the boxes to form dynamic\, interactive story structures. \n\n\n\nAll materials are provided\, though participants are encouraged to bring their own acrylic paints and brushes. Some materials may be messy\, so wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty\, and bring warm layers as the space may be chilly. \n\n\n\nThe workshop is suitable for all ages and skill levels. For access requirements or enquiries\, please email schlegl.fidelia@gmail.com in advance. \n\n\n\nBook your free ticket

SUMMARY:SORB: Hardcore Uproar
DESCRIPTION:Opening: Thursday\, 10 April6:00 PM – 8:30 PM \n\n\n\nExhibition continues until 27 AprilFriday – Sunday\, 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM \n\n\n\n‘The year is 1996\, the month is July and a heatwave hits the usual dreary England in full force. John Major’s Criminal Justice and Public Order Act has plummeted young\, disenfranchised brits into a new political landscape. A 31 year old\, Keith D. Gerald\, is preparing to perform at Lewisham’s infamous ‘Manifest’ club. Little did he know he was going to ignite the most defining moment in the history of music’. \n\n\n\n‘Hardcore Uproar’ is an exhibition exploring the historical music movement of S.O.R.B (succession of repetitive beats) revolving around one era changing night in 1996. The show includes first person accounts\, protest posters and rave flyers that led to The Public Enforcement of Sonic Restriction Act effectively banning music. Looking at the political climate and illegal rave culture from the 90s to modern day\, we’ve been given special government permission to play chosen music outside of state mandated times. \n\n\n\nHardcore Uproar invites you to relive a pivotal moment in music history—where rebellion met rhythm and reshaped a generation. With rare permission to break state-enforced silence\, this is your chance to experience the soundscape of resistance like never before.

SUMMARY:OUTFITTING
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday 17 November\, 1.30pm-4.30pm for OUTFITTING\, a stress-free community clothes swap at SET Lewisham! \n\n\n\nOutfitting is an invitation to give and receive: you bring your old clothes and find some that are new to you. You can take what you want\, the exchange is not choreographed. While searching for a new look\, we find a new reciprocity that allows us to look beyond retail\, and into a porous common space. Here\, we find that empathy and care produce a surplus of styles.  \n\n\n\nThis edition of Outfitting is hosted with ⓜ.ⓤ.ⓓ\, a drop-in group for Lewisham-borough-based 18-25-year-olds working with the plants\, soil\, humans\, and non-humans around us to find community and wellbeing in the city. \n\n\n\nPhoto credits: Ebay / user foreve912

SUMMARY:Anatomy of a Soaring Lion
DESCRIPTION:PV: Thursday 7 November\, 6-10pmExhibition open: Friday 8 November – Wednesday 13 November\, 12pm – 5pm each day.Curated by the artists Gabrielle Bejani @goublou and Lucinda Purkis @kingkingstringball442 \n\n\n\n“don’t tell me it wasthe wind!” Frank shouts \n\n\n\n“THAT TREEWAVEDAT ME!”The Book of Frank [“don’t tell me it was”] by CAConrad \n\n\n\nAnatomy of a Soaring Lion is a two-person show by Gabrielle Bejani and Lucinda Purkis\, presenting a series of new\, multi-disciplinary collages incorporating delicate papers\, textiles\, procion-dyed and ink-painted fabric\, and plant matter. These works serve as windows into both artists’ imaginative worlds. \n\n\n\nThe latest of Bejani and Purkis’s long-term collaborations\, Anatomy of a Soaring Lion explores the spirit of play in their work through a synthesis of folklore\, mythology\, and memory. Both artists approach making from a place of heightened vulnerability and work to complexify this initial rawness through the multilayered quality of their pieces. They seek to highlight the intricacies of fleeting psychological states\, and infuse their works with a palette of rich\, vibrant colours and fragmented avatars that translate into landscapes of feeling\, forming a generative space for the viewer to explore.

Feel free to bring along any additional materials to personalise what we explore together.  \n\n\n\nAttendees are welcome to join either session\, or come along to both for a full day of making. Both workshops are free and all materials are provided.  \n\n\n\nLetter Locking WorkshopSaturday 16 March\, 2 – 4pm \n\n\n\nJoin artist Ashleigh Fisk for a Letter Locking workshop\, following the morning’s gall ink-making session. In this workshop\, participants will take an experimental approach to folding\, cutting and thinking through letters as art objects. \n\n\n\nDrawing inspiration from early modern letterlocking practices to Emily Dickinson’s envelope poems\, attendees will explore folding\, cutting\, weaving\, and sewing paper to create intricate and secretive letter forms. Using the oak gall ink made earlier in the day\, participants will add personal touches through writing\, mark-making\, or drawing. \n\n\n\nExperimentation is encouraged\, with the opportunity to incorporate elements such as wax seals\, exterior paper locks\, and any other creative additions. By the end of the workshop\, participants will leave with newfound skills in crafting secret letters and their own locked letter creations. \n\n\n\nAll materials will be provided but feel free to bring along any materials you’d like to incorporate into your designs\, such as objects for making impressions in wax or preferred writing and painting implements. Get your free ticket on outsavvy here

During this two-hour workshop\, participants will learn the alchemical process of transforming natural materials into a rich\, durable ink\, from sourcing and preparing the galls to the final blending process. Once the ink is ready\, we will experiment with drawing\, writing\, painting\, and mark-making using our handmade ink. \n\n\n\nAll materials will be provided but feel free to bring along any preferred writing\, painting\, or mark-making implements\, as well as papers\, to further explore the versatility of your ink. Each participant will leave with their own jar of oak gall ink! \n\n\n\nSign up via outsavvy here. \n\n\n\nSupported using public funding by Arts Council England.

SUMMARY:I will live many years in this room
DESCRIPTION:SET are delighted to announce ‘𝙄 𝙬𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙮 𝙮𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙧𝙤𝙤𝙢’\, a solo exhibition from artist Ashleigh Fisk\, with new writing by Gwen Dupré.Opening on the leap year\, a day often regarded as a fracture in standard time\, the exhibition takes the historic practice of letter locking as its starting point – a method of intricately cutting and folding a written letter in order to seal it\, thereby ensuring the secrecy of its contents and verifying the author’s identity.Working in dialogue with writer and researcher Gwen Dupré\, Fisk utilises craft and storytelling traditions to conjure objects infused with queered and collective histories: ceramics\, iron-gall ink\, and materials foraged near Fisk’s home in Sussex are enclosed and entrusted with messages of secret desire. SET Lewisham’s gallery will be recomposed as a domestic space\, reflective of womens’ ubiquitous experiences of mental and physical confinement as well as comfort and solace. Furnishings\, objects and stained glass create a playful\, anachronistic room in which many lives\, both real and imagined\, have been lived.Over the course of the show\, the exhibition will host a series of public workshops and gatherings ranging from visual scribing and letter locking to queer reading groups. Dates and booking information to be announced.Exhibition opens Thursday 29 February 6pm – 9pmExhibition continues Thursday – Sunday\, 1.30pm – 6pm until 24 MarchSupported using public funding from Arts Council England.Work by @ashleigh_fisk and writing by @gwenrcdupre#acesupported

SUMMARY:Unknown Territory
DESCRIPTION:Opening: Thursday 8 February\, 6.30pm-9pmExhibition Continues: Thursday-Sunday\, 12-6pm until Sunday 18 February‘Things emerge\, we turn them over and they disappear.’ \n\n\n\nUnknown Territory is a group exhibition that investigates our human interactions\, weaving daily rituals\, the search for intimacy\, and the remnants left by industrial living to forge new dialogues. \n\n\n\nArtists Alex Stone\, Ben Topping\, and Valentino Vannini respond to the gallery space\, delving into the synergies of their practices to create a collaborative installation where the boundaries between their work and the site become indistinct. Working from the formal arrangement of the space and using grids of many forms as a starting point\, they have utilised materials such as concrete\, lipstick\, copper\, and hair in order to observe and conduct urban rituals\, considering both the past and future histories of the space. They invite the viewer to observe from the distance of the street and wander within.

SUMMARY:Fruit and Flesh
DESCRIPTION:Fruit and Flesh: A group show by Dio Dunbar & Jaffar Aly \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n“Bringing together a dynamic blend of styles and mediums\, and with the help of sketchbooks\, doodles\, unfinished pieces and poems\, Lewisham based artists Dio Dunbar & Jaffar Aly take a playful dive into the process of portraiture.  \n\n\n\nIn this vibrant exhibition\, each artist cracks open the bones of their creative process\, unveiling to onlookers the inner workings and charisma of their art\, and in turn\, themselves. \n\n\n\nSo much wonder and beauty can be found within the task of creation. This process of producing a finished piece is rarely linear\, takes on many forms\, is often ugly and sometimes transcends a page. Behind clean cut lines and fluid blending is a world of ideas stored in miscellaneous places\, and in this duo show\, the artists intend to invite you inside. \n\n\n\nFollowing his 6-month residency at SET Lewisham\, Dio decided to honour the progress and development he made both technically and mentally as an artist\, and so “Fruit and Flesh” was conceived. Together with fellow artist Jaffar Aly\, he curated this exhibition in response to his rediscovered love for creating.” \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nPrivate View: Friday 27th October\, 5-8pm \n\n\n\nOpen: 28th-29th 4-8pm and 30th-31st by appointment
