SUMMARY:Rapture 1587 ~ Fundraising Club Night
DESCRIPTION:Soft launch for the end times but with dancing. \n\n\n\nThis event is fundraising for the community garden and food bank operating out of SET Woolwich\, where we are working towards providing some fresh vegetables for the cafe\, and creating a space for people to spend time with and learn from each other. \n\n\n\nNo one turned away due to lack of funds. \n\n\n\nLine-Up: \n\n\n\nHard on Yarn Sourdonk Communion (LIVE) Hard on Yarn Sourdonk Communion recall the hereditary instinct that when an act is performed\, it must be performed with a donk on. They harken back to the oldest days of the donk\, a secret society whose shrouded practises reverberate worldwide on the off-beat. We ask you to join them\, with communion bucky in hand. Lest the world forget\, the Sourdonk will remember. Put a donk on it. (hmurd/+777000) \n\n\n\nGrace \n\n\n\nxin  Wormholes through possible worlds and their musics. \n\n\n\nGLAMOUR The duo GLAMOUR\, aka (Chloée Maugile + Ruth Angel Edwards) are UK based experimental artists and filmmakers. Their influences range from industrial\, post-punk\, glitch & dance music to deliver a mind palace of mood\, space and freedom. \n\n\n\nLUCIA \n\n\n\nThe JLB  The JLB is the main moniker of Croydon-raised Jamie Bulled; 1/3 of pop trio Kero Kero Bonito and self appointed “Crown Prince of Escape Room”. He has been producing his unique brand of UK Bass music for 10+ years and worked with an eclectic range of artists including The Garden\, Mr Yote\, Iceboy Violet\, Cowgirl Clue and Meuko! Meuko! Since 2021 he has released 2 mixtapes as The JLB\, including singles mastered by UK Garage legend Mike Millrain. The JLB’s manifesto is Pure Dance Music Reconstruction; the attempt to make something new. Something with character that still works on the dancefloor. Wish him luck!! \n\n\n\nZoe Pea

SUMMARY:Dishes that Remind Us of Home
DESCRIPTION:Bring your favourite dish (one that reminds you of home) to share with other attendees\, and join us for an evening of food\, drinks and music! \n\n\n\nAs part of the closing day of “De\, desde\, en\, entre\, hacia” the artists and curator invite you to prepare a dish that reminds you of home and to share it with the rest of the attendees of this food gathering. Food can bring about nostalgic feelings but also a lot of joy; we want to explore this by means of different flavors coming from diverse backgrounds. We wish to create a space where food and stories may be shared\, exchanging flavors and bits of wisdom. You can bring salads\, rices\, stews\, breads\, desserts — everything will be well-received and shared between all. We’d love to receive you to talk\, listen to music and enjoy the exhibition one last time. \n\n\n\nFREE to attend. Link to tickets here. \n\n\n\nIt doesn’t matter if you can’t bring a dish! You can bring whatever you please to share: it can be something to drink\, some candy\, etc\, but the idea is not to come empty-handed

SUMMARY:The Territories We Inhabit
DESCRIPTION:This workshop\, created by Aileen Gavonel\, Fernanda Barreto\, Lucía R and Sophia Sacal\, places affectivity at the centre of our identity\, our territories and our homes. We will invite families (both Latinx and from other communities) to draw a collective map without any visual reference\, using only their memory and imagination. This will allow us to speak about the image that we have of Latin America\, specifically\, and we will question how it is that we can draw this territory from an affective place. We will also focus on giving kids the opportunity to answer questions such as: “Where are you from?” “Which territories have you inhabited?” “What have those places left you?” “How do you imagine your favorite place?” \n\n\n\nAfter finalizing this first part\, we will divide into groups and each one will work with a story\, legend or myth of their choice. Each team will write down on a piece of paper the character\, location and situation that they chose; all of these will be mixed together on a table\, becoming the materials/elements for the construction of a collective tale. The workshop will end with an out-loud reading of the newly constructed story and a return to the affective territory drawn during the first part. \n\n\n\nThe workshop will be taught both in Spanish and in English.

SUMMARY:An Afternoon of Performances on 4th Floor Exhibition Space
DESCRIPTION:This evening is an exploration of the diverse kinds of relationships one can have to the world by means of our bodies and our different senses. 5 of the 10 artists in “De\, desde\, en\, entre\, hacia” will perform unique proposals and promise to deliver a multi-sensorial experience. \n\n\n\nThis is a pay what you can event. Link to tickets here. \n\n\n\nLine-Up: \n\n\n\n2:00pm-2:45pm:Haptic Chant  (Rebeca Romero) \n\n\n\n3:00pm-3:45pm:Association for caressing the caressable  (Lucía R) \n\n\n\n4:00pm-4:45pm:Collective kneading of arepas + poetry recitation(José García Oliva) \n\n\n\n5:00pm-5:45pm:Sonified textiles (Paola Torres Núñez del Prado) \n\n\n\n6:00pm-6:45pm:Experimental sound concert  (Carolina Vélez Muñiz) \n\n\n\nMore Information: \n\n\n\n1. Haptic Chant : Inspired by the use of ‘Icaros’\, medicine\, magic songs sung by shamans in South America during Ayahuasca ceremonies\, Rebeca Romero’s fired-clay installation is activated through the use of a mixing console\, pedal\, microphone and an analog synthesiser. She seeks to “free” the voices of these objects\, utilizing the chant as a connection device. \n\n\n\n2. Association for caressing the caressable: A clay installation conceived by Lucía R composed of performatic actions in regards to the “caress” as a form of minuscule resistance. It integrates sounds and touch\, and asks for the public’s active participation. \n\n\n\n3. Collective kneading of Arepas + poetry recitation: Arepas are the slices of bread of this Venezuela without bread. The action of making arepas abroad approximates a physical and emotional nostalgia with corn flavour. José García Oliva summons both amateurs and experienced arepa-makers to knead the dough collectively\, while talking about the social and political dimensions of this culinary tradition. We will recite Roxana Crisólogo’s Widow Arepa poem\, which was written in response to Oliva’s piece. At the end of the performance\, attendees will get to take the dough home. \n\n\n\n4. Sonified textiles: The textile controllers utilized by Paola Torres Núñez del Prado for this performance are both works of art and devices that fall within the scope of Smart Textiles and innovate in the discipline of Human-Computer Interaction. Referring to forms of expression and thought that are not of Western heritage\, its design proposes another approach to technology\, where it is common to find devices made of metal or plastic\, both in conventional electronic sound presentations and in more experimental ones. \n\n\n\n5. Experimental sound concert: One of Carolina Vélez Muñiz’s area of expertise is textiles but she has also ventured into the experimental sound realm and has constructed her own sound systems\, which she will use in this performance. She has invited Enrique Arriaga\, also an experimental sound artist from Mexico\, to collaborate on this occasion.

SUMMARY:De\, desde\, en\, entre\, hacia…
DESCRIPTION:“De\, desde\, en\, entre\, hacia…” is an exhibition that takes its name from the most common prepositions in the Spanish language\, which are used as departure points to explore the ways in which a body can relate to the world. The exhibition brings together the work of 10 Latin American artists hailing from Peru\, Mexico\, Venezuela\, Brazil and Colombia\, whose artistic practice revolves around identity construction processes at a transterritorial level. The exhibition will have an accompanying public programme that will seek to deepen the affective\, social\, cultural\, economic and political dimensions of the migrant body\, the non-hegemonic body\, the other-body. \n\n\n\nThroughout the month\, we will invite you to eat\, dance\, cook\, draw\, write\, converse… with the aim of providing a broad and complex vision of what being “Latinx” is or can be. We hope to open up gathering spaces where we can exchange and share knowledge and experiences\, for it is in this way that we will be able to qualify this thorny concept of identity. Check the programme section of our website for a full list of upcoming events.
