Blether Performer’s Playground: March Edition

22 March @ 15:30 17:30

Want to perform in front of an audience but not sure where to begin? Or do you have an idea for a new set that you would like to test in a supportive space?

Blether Performer’s Playground is a DIY, peer-to-peer workshop offering an introduction to performance techniques.  Part of a monthly series, it focuses on collaboration, play, and learning through experimentation (and embracing imperfection).

Each explores how to build short performance pieces. These might include spoken word, storytelling, monologues, PowerPoint presentations, cabaret or any performance idea you want to try. The session will experiment with voice, movement and text to help participants build confidence and develop stagecraft.

The workshop is led by theatre director and maker Giulia Grillo, and is designed as a relaxed and encouraging environment to test ideas, learn practical tools and meet others interested in performance making.

By the end of the session, participants will have created and presented a short performance piece and will receive photographs taken during the workshop.

No previous stage experience is required and all materials will be provided.

What to bring

Please bring a short text you would like to work with. This could be something you have written yourself, or a poem, song or monologue. You can read from it during the session or perform it from memory. There is no need to learn it by heart.
