SET 91 is SET’s first in-house contemporary arts gallery, located at 91 Tabernacle Street in Old Street.
Conceived against the backdrop of London’s shrinking cultural spaces and narrowing opportunities for artists, the gallery provides early-career and underrepresented practitioners a non-profit platform focused on experimentation, process, and the presentation of new work beyond commercial pressures.
Led by the SET curatorial team alongside invited guest curators, programming unfolds across six-month seasonal cycles, bringing together exhibitions, performances, and cross-disciplinary projects, as well as a public series of talks and workshops.
Furnishing Shangri-La
Drawing on the building’s connection to East London’s 19th-century furniture trade, Qu explores how decorative forms and fantasies of the ‘good life’ are reproduced and transformed as they move between cultures through mass production.
