A cabaret for the dead divas we miss so much.
Alan Rickman. David Bowie. Harper Lee. Carrie Fisher. George Michael. Prince. Leonard Cohen. Victoria Wood. Zsa Zsa Gabor. Muhammad Ali. And Fraser Buchanan’s (the organiser) mum. What do all these people have in common? They all died in 2016.
Ten years on, this event reflects on grief as something vast, world-shifting, and deeply personal, but also something that can hold humour, tenderness, and release. There are dark jokes to tell, sweet stories to share, silly songs to sing, and moments worth sitting with.
D.E.A.D (Dazzling Eulogies and Devotions) is a one-off cabaret-come-memorial bringing together songs, poems, anecdotes, and short performances. A group of invited artists and collaborators share work that honours loss, memory, and the people we carry with us, without asking the audience to be solemn, polished, or resolved.
The evening is intentionally low-key, camp, heartfelt, and a little irreverent. It offers space to sit with death and grief without the pressure to explain it, fix it, or make it palatable.

This event is not group therapy. It is not facilitated by a trained grief counsellor and does not offer bereavement support. It is a cabaret for people who want to sit with themes of death and loss without worrying about making others uncomfortable. Dedicated bereavement resources are available elsewhere for those who need them.
