From Threads to Words – ESEA workshop on death, grief and resilience

In the spirit of ESEA Heritage Month, 53 Death Cafe invites you to join ‘From Threads to Words‘ – an exploration of death, grief, and resilience through the arts. This special workshop combines textile weaving with guided poetry creation, offering a reflective and embodied approach to memory and storytelling.
Participants will:
- Engage in discussions on mother tongue, grief, death, and resilience.
- Take part in guided poetry writing inspired by personal and shared experiences.
- Learn simple weaving techniques to integrate written words into textiles.
- Leave with a personalized woven poem honoring your stories and memories.
This event is especially for those who:
- Seek a safe, shared space to reflect on grief, loss, and resilience.
- Identify as part of the East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) community.

Facilitators
- Yian Zhang (she/her): Visual artist and community facilitator focusing on tactile-based practices and feminist diasporic narratives. Dedicated to neurodiverse and inclusive creative sessions.
- Xizi Jo (they/them): Founder of 53 Death Cafe and health & wellbeing coach, creating generative spaces to explore death, dying, and resilience through art and conversation.
