SET Film Festival 2025 | Night 2: State of the Nation
13 November 2025 @ 19:15 – 23:30
Introducing Night 2 of the SET Film Festival 2025: ‘State of the Nation’, taking place at SET Social, Peckham on Thursday 13 November.
Schools, care homes, youth centres, churches: these institutions shape who we are, yet they cannot contain us. In conditions of austerity, our underfunded public services and community spaces remain vital forms of support, even as they are marked by fragility and contradiction.
SET presents a series of six films that trace divergent relationships to these frameworks, revealing the fraying social fabric of collective life and the uneven networks that sustain it. In St Leonards-on-Sea, a local youth centre offers a young man both respite and a ticket out of town; veteran filmmaker John Smith reflects on aging, artistic legacy, and the joys and frustrations of being one of many; and in a church hall, faith charts a route back home.
Night 2 films include:
- Being John Smith (2024) – John Smith
- I’M CHARLIE JOHNSON (2025) – Esther Springett
- Okay Keskidee! Let Me See Inside (2025) – Rhea Storr
- We were halfway out of town when I realised I forgot my suit (2024) – Barney Ogden
- Wedding Reminiscence (2024) – Barney Gibbons
- Adura Baba Mi (2024) – Juliana Kasumu
