SET is pleased to announce a new arts centre opening in Deptford, South London.
Based in a former office and hall building in SE8, just a five-minute walk from Deptford station, SET Deptford spans just over 5,000 sq ft across two floors and will support nearly 50 artists with genuinely affordable studio space, including those with a mix of making and desk-based practices.
SET Deptford is a modest space, but an important one. It reflects SET’s ongoing commitment to working locally, responding to immediate need, and making space available where it can have the greatest impact. Designed as a focused, stable studio environment, the centre will prioritise artists living and working in and around Deptford and the wider Lewisham area.
This new site arrives alongside SET’s existing centres in Greenwich, Lewisham and Peckham, and follows the recent opening of SET Vauxhall, our largest site to date, as well as the announcement of SET Fulham. Together, these projects mark a period of momentum for SET, helping to consolidate our presence across South London and demonstrating how artist- and community-led organisations can operate at different scales while staying grounded in the communities they serve.
Studios at SET Deptford
SET Deptford offers some of the most affordable studios in South London, priced at just £1.30 per sq ft PCM, all-inclusive of rates and utilities, with no hidden fees.
Studios range from 60 sqft to over 1,075 sqft, with prices starting at just £70 PCM, including utilities, maintenance, cleaning, 24/7 access, and shared facilities. These will be offered with an initial six-month workspace guarantee, followed by a two-month rolling contract.
Viewings will be held in person from 4 February (2-5pm), with studios allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. To help keep the centre rooted locally, priority will be given to artists and collectives based in Deptford and the wider Lewisham borough.
