Kicking off our 10th anniversary Open Studios tour with two of our newest centres! SET Deptford and SET Holbeach are just a quick 10-minute bus or bike ride apart, so come spend the afternoon hopping between the two. Meet the artists, have a look around the studios, see what’s being made and get a peek at works in progress. Free drinks will be flowing at both sites!

Our monthly community market is getting a special 10th birthday edition! Come down to SET Social for a Sunday of handmade goods, vintage treasures, prints, bakes, collectables and more, with stalls inside and out. There’ll also be workshops and food stalls, and everyone’s welcome!

We’re blowing out the candles for ten years of SET with a massive three-day birthday bender at our beloved arts and social club in Peckham! All profits from the event will go directly to our SET Social fundraiser.

THE BIRTHDAY PARTY

We’re bringing together SET friends and regulars for a big birthday night of poetry, live bands, performances and DJs, hosted by Sam McGovern and Erin Galvin. Expect party hats, birthday cake, unapologetic clownery, silly dance music and a piñata because.. obviously.

Friday 11 September | 5pm-Late

Clock off early and head straight to the bar. SET staff and friends take over the decks till late with classic birthday beats, alongside a tarot reader, magician, balloon artist, and crafting sessions.

Saturday 12 September | 2pm-Late

We’re starting early with an adult-friendly bouncy castle, face painting, food stalls and a bake sale, plus workshops from Negative Space and hat-making sessions. As the night rolls on, expect drag performances and live bands before SET Social favourite Father Phoenix takes over the decks until 3am!

Across both Friday and Saturday, swing by the SET Memory Tree to pin a note or memory from the last decade, and stop by the info table for raffle tickets.

Ever wanted to have a go at ceramics? We’re opening up our pottery studio for a day of free taster workshops, with handbuilding in the morning and wheel throwing in the afternoon, led by our course tutors Francisco Zhan and Lewis Hayes. All finished handbuilding pieces will form a collaborative sculpture for SET Social’s community garden!

Come explore the artist studios at SET Lewisham Retail Park, one of our first centres in London! Alongside the open studios, we’ll have a special group exhibition in the project space featuring eight studio members from our sister centre on Lewisham High Street. There’ll also be food from South London plant-based favourite En Root, plus free drinks.

Join us for the opening night of a new exhibition by SET studio members Ismay Bright and Peter Eason Daniels. Anchored in the collection of found text, the show explores the preservation of these words and phrases through their respective analog mediums of mosaic and film.

Our Old Street studios are opening their doors! Situated right next door to each other, come meet the artists and have a look around their spaces. While you’re there, head downstairs to SET 91, our contemporary arts gallery, for the opening of a new exhibition on the same evening. Free drinks provided.

We’re bringing together current and former SET studio members for a massive salon-style group exhibition in the ground floor project space. Come down for the opening night, hear a speech from Co-Director Roland Fischer-Vousen and grab a drink from our new Vauxhall bar.

Alongside the show, check out the SET Archive Display in the café space, featuring a custom London site map by Daniel Gatenio, mini sculptures of past SET centres, historic artefacts, and copies of our new publication: SET’s Handbook for Opening Alternative Spaces.

To close out our month-long Open Studios tour, we’re opening the doors to our 17-floor landmark arts centre on the Thames. Since opening last autumn, SET Vauxhall has become home to nearly 600 artists. This is our first-ever open studios event at the site, so come meet hundreds of artists, wander through the studios, check out the 10 Years of SET exhibition and archive display in the project space, and grab a drink at the bar.
