Brishty Alam’s works are invested with a magical, shape-shifting quality. They adapt to, resist and converse with their environments, and when brought together, they unfold their many aspects in gregarious and often surprising ways. Born in London, Brishty lives and works in Vienna. 

Katherine Waters explores the shaping qualities of space, gravity, time, relation and inclination. Informed by contemporary dance practices, in considering the membranes and transitions between internal and external states, Katherine complicates simple transmission, seeking to open up a space of grace. 

Affinities brings Brishty and Katherine’s work together for the first time. Though their practices and processes differ, they share common concerns with materiality, movement, distance, value and fluid states. Separated by geography, and connected by years of friendship and conversation, the exhibition creates a place for their works to speak with each other while remaining distinct.
