SET Social’s library corner begins its next chapter! Following a successful residency by Oisín Roberts and his community library, the space now hosts a year-long project with the Green Lions Community Archive. We invite you to join us on Thursday 30 July to celebrate the official opening of their new home.

The Green Lions Community Archive is a space dedicated to preserving the history and cultural production of grassroots organising and social movements. With a focus on decolonial climate justice and solidarity, within and beyond London, the collection aims to represent East and South East Asian (ESEA) communities, their diasporic homelands, and allied groups fighting against imperialism and climate colonialism.

This launch event is a open invitation to explore this new physical space as well as the connections between climate justice, decolonisation, racial justice and anti-militarism. It’s a night to convene, explore the stacks, and help shape a resource built by the community, for the community.

What to expect on the night:

• Participate in community archiving and mapping interventions.
• Chat with the collective about ideas for the space and how to get involved.
• Some light snacks will be provided, and the SET Social bar will be open for drinks all evening.

Want to contribute to the archive?

Built on an ethics of open access and collaborative activation, this archive is grown by you. If you’d like to bring something along to donate to the collection (either on the launch night or during future opening hours), Green Lions are looking for materials that represent social movements and grassroots organising. This could include:

• Printed zines, pamphlets, and writing
• Photographs and protest ephemera
• Field recordings, songs, and films

About the organisers:

Green Lions is a London-based, grassroots collective which aims to bring East and South East Asian (ESEA) diaspora communities into the decolonial climate justice movement through creativity, political education, community engagement, and collaboration.

Their work includes political education teach-ins, creative programming, community gardening, outreach, and digital projects to encourage ESEA engagement with climate justice and build solidarities through a creative and decolonial lens.
