Tava Rakh is a plant-based food business run by Mala Lal. Tava Rakh means “put the hot plate on” in Punjabi—a phrase Mala’s mum would say, signalling the start of cooking (and tasty food coming!). Growing up in a Punjabi household, Mala was constantly surrounded by rich, indulgent Indian comfort food. For her, cooking remains a way to unwind, connect, and share warmth, nostalgia, and generosity through food.
