Off the Record is an upcoming immersive installation at SET Stage Gallery, unveiling the vital contributions of the unsung heroes of London’s underground rap scene. Behind every viral video, sold-out event, and career-defining moment, there is a dedicated photographer who captured the scene, a journalist who narrated the story, and an event producer who orchestrated the show. For one weekend only, the London artists working “off the record” take centre stage to celebrate their efforts in documenting and building the underground rap scene.

Curated by the multi-talented Mobolaji Babalola (@toomanyfishb), this gathering brings together photographers, videographers, A&Rs, event producers, set designers, lighting designers, journalists, and visual artists.

Mobolaji is a set designer (@bfixedit_) and event producer. Having built sets for prominent rappers like Ceebo and Saiming, whilst also working as an art director and event producer for @prettytwistedlive, she has fast become a major force behind the scenes. Earlier this year, she held her debut solo exhibition, showcasing her work within the underground rap scene and the wider creative landscape. Now, she is turning the spotlight back onto her own community.

About SET Stage Gallery

Launched in 2023, SET Stage Gallery is a volunteer-led, non-profit contemporary art space based at SET Social. The gallery prioritises artists with limited access to exhibition opportunities and supports a programme of monthly workshops, talks, screenings, reading groups, and exhibitions. All proceeds go directly to participating artists, supporting accessibility and sustainability within the space.
