The Tiny Oscars – Inclusive One Week Film Challenge and Community Screening
15 November 2025 @ 19:00 – 22:00
The Tiny Oscars is an inclusive, free-to-enter independent film night that invites filmmakers from around the world to create a short film in just one week. The event brings the community together to share joy, watch films on the big screen, celebrate with awards, and end the night with a dance.
The initiative aims to encourage making for the sake of making. Many aspiring creators have personal projects they dream of completing, but without real incentive, those ideas often fall into the “idea graveyard.” The Tiny Oscars provides that incentive – a clear deadline and a supportive creative community.
The ‘One Week Movie Challenge’ began with co-founder James Papper, who struggled with overthinking and unfinished projects. In late 2024, he discovered that setting a short deadline and holding himself accountable helped him break through a lifelong creative block. Inspired by that breakthrough, The Tiny Oscars now shares this process with a wider audience, empowering filmmakers to overcome perfectionism and rediscover the joy of creativity.
Whether an experienced director or a complete beginner, participants in The Tiny Oscars have the opportunity to see their films on the big screen, connect with fellow creators, and celebrate the act of making. For every filmmaker, it all starts with a deadline.
What is the brief?
