The West African Literary Circle invites readers, thinkers, and the culturally curious to gather for its monthly circle exploring literature from across West Africa and its diaspora.
As the winter months draw closer, the circle will be discussing Chigozie Obioma’s An Orchestra of Minorities, chapter by chapter. For the first session of the series, we will discuss the first incantation, Igbo spirituality, in particular spiritual courts, and the first chapter. It’ll be a great circle where we will discuss spiritual parallels, the before, in the middle and afterlife.
Designed as a relaxed and welcoming space, the circle encourages open discussion, shared reflection, and community connection through literature. Readers of all backgrounds are welcome, whether deeply familiar with the text or joining out of curiosity and interest in West African storytelling.
Attendees are welcome to replenish themselves during and after the circle at the bar and cafe.
If experiencing barriers to accessing a copy of the book or have a question about the group, please contact the host at @walitcircle
