The West African Literary Circle invites readers, thinkers, and the culturally curious to gather for its monthly meeting at SET Social.

For the second session, the circle will continue discussing Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, a landmark novel examining tradition, colonialism, masculinity, and cultural change in pre- and post-colonial Nigeria. You’ll focus on chapters 1 through 8, featuring a close reading and discussion of chapter 7.

Designed as a relaxed and welcoming space, the circle encourages open discussion, shared reflection, and community connection through literature. Readers of all backgrounds are welcome, whether deeply familiar with the text or joining out of curiosity and interest in West African storytelling.

Don’t worry if you haven’t finished the chapters or are new to the group. Each session includes focused time to read a specific chapter silently or as a group, so initial reading is not strictly required to participate.

Attendees are welcome to grab a drink during and after the circle at the SET Social bar or café.
