Kiln Hire
Looking for somewhere to fire your work in central London? We offer flexible kiln hire for independent makers. You don’t need to be a studio member, simply book the firing you need, bring your pieces, and we’ll take care of the rest.
Firing options
We fire to two temperatures: bisque at 1000°C and stoneware at 1240°C. You can hire a half shelf, a full shelf, or the entire kiln depending on your project.
If you are hiring individual shelves instead of the full kiln, your firing must correspond to whichever temperature we are running next (bisque or stoneware).

Kiln details
- Our kiln is a Nabertherm 200L oval top loader.
- Interior dimensions: 87 cm W × 54 cm D × 37 cm H
- Shelf size: 54 cm D × 43.5 cm W

How to book
Booking is simple:
1. Take a look at our Kiln Hire Terms & Conditions to check safety requirements.
2. Email ceramics@setspace.uk with “Kiln Hire” in the subject line. Let us know:
- The type of firing (bisque or glaze)
- Type of kiln hire (half shelf, full shelf, or full kiln)
- Photos of your pieces
- Clay and glaze temperature info
- Any fragile or special elements
- When you need the firing done by
Please note: We require at least 2 weeks’ notice for bookings. Your slot is confirmed after payment is received. If you’re hiring individual shelves, please check your pieces fit the space – and if in doubt, just ask, we’re happy to help.
