Private Classes

We offer private classes at SET Ceramics for individuals and small groups. These are one-off sessions shaped around what you want to learn, whether it’s your first time trying pottery, you’re looking for more focused support with your practice, or you’d simply like to try making something with a friend or family member. 

All sessions are led by practising ceramic artists, so you’ll be working with tutors who bring their own approaches and experience into the studio.

Private classes offer dedicated time to learn techniques, ask questions, and spend a few hours making with guidance.

Session options

Wheel throwing

Up to 4 people 
2 hours per session

A focused introduction to the wheel, or time to build confidence with forms and technique. 

  • 1 person 
    £95 per person 
    Includes 2 to 3 pots glazed and fired for you 
  • 2+ people 
    £85 per person 
    Includes 2 pots each glazed and fired for you 

Hand building

Up to 5 people 
2 hours per session

Work at the table using pinch, coil, or slab methods, with time to explore sculptural or functional pieces.

  • 1 person 
    £95 per person 
    Includes 1 to 2 pieces glazed and fired for you 
  • 2+ people 
    £85 per person 
    Includes 1 piece each glazed and fired for you 

What’s included

All materials, glazing, and firing are included in the cost. 

You’ll choose from five coloured stoneware glazes, and your pieces will be fired and finished by our studio technician after the session. 

Work is usually ready to collect in around 2 to 3 weeks, and we’ll email you when it’s ready. 

How to book

If you’d like to book a private class, please email ceramics@setspace.uk with the subject line Private Booking, and include: 

  • Your name 
  • Number of people attending 
  • Session type: Wheel Throwing or Hand Building 
  • Preferred dates or time of day (if you have them) 
  • A short note on what you’d like from the session 

For example: first time with clay, a fun activity with a friend or partner, or more targeted support with your practice.
