SET is proud to announce the opening of a significant new arts centre in Wimbledon, South West London. Based at St Georges House East, this new site, spanning approximately 30,000 sq ft, represents a major addition to our network, providing much-needed affordable studios for the local artist community.
Located just a short walk from Wimbledon station, SET Wimbledon occupies a prominent position that allows us to serve artists across Merton and the wider South West London area. The new centre follows a period of rapid growth for the charity in the South London area, joining our recent expansions in Vauxhall, Fulham, and Deptford, in addition to our existing sites in Lewisham, Peckham and Greenwich.
The project is rooted in our ethos of protecting space for the local artist communities across London. By repurposing this building, we are continuing our work to provide long-term security for artists in the city, ensuring that affordable workspace is treated as a necessity for the local community – not just a temporary fix.
SET started as a DIY project, and as we take on larger buildings like this one, our focus remains the same: staying artist-led and community-focused. Our aim for SET Wimbledon is to create a stable environment where creative practice can thrive. As a charity, every penny from studio fees goes directly back into the site, allowing us to keep rents low so that artists and community groups can afford to stay and work in their local area.

Studios at SET Wimbledon
SET Wimbledon offers a variety of workspace options, ranging from pre-existing self-contained rooms that are ready for immediate use to larger studios that will be constructed in phases. To ensure the site remains accessible, studios are offered as some of the most affordable in the area at £1.45 sqft, all-inclusive of rates and utilities, with no hidden fees.
Studio sizes vary from approximately 62 sqft to 384 sqft, with prices ranging from just £170 to £557 PCM, including utilities, cleaning of communal areas, 24/7 access, and shared facilities. These workspaces will be guaranteed until February 2028, followed by a three-month rolling contract.
Viewings for the first phase of the studios will take place on Wednesday 13 May (2-4pm), with studios allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. In line with our commitment to keeping the centre rooted in the local area, priority will be given to artists and collectives currently living or working in Wimbledon and the wider Borough of Merton.
Early members should be aware that the site is currently undergoing fit out preparations. While this allows for an early move in date of 1 June 2026, there will be noisy building work on site as new studios are constructed. Additionally, Wi-Fi will be unavailable for the first few months while it is being installed.
Full details on studio sizes, pricing, eligibility, and move-in timelines are available on our studio page.

Workspace for organisations
Alongside individual artist studios, SET Wimbledon offers dedicated workspace for charities, community organisations, and arts or culture-adjacent businesses. We have a significant section of the site known as ‘The Bank,’ which provides over 4,500 sq ft of space across three floors.
With 12 individual rooms and several large open areas, this space is well-suited for a variety of uses such as project-led activities and production. Like our artist studios, these spaces are guaranteed until February 2028.
Organisations based at SET Wimbledon will play a key role in supporting SET’s wider charitable aims and in helping to keep studios accessible and affordable for artists and community groups. We are especially keen to hear from organisations that align with our focus on social justice and community access.
We are currently hosting regular site visits. If your organisation is interested, please get in touch to arrange a viewing. For more information or to discuss organisational workspace, please email us at property@setspace.uk
